Shorter Walks Bellbird Lookout  2km return  Class 4 Track  1 Hr

We start to descend through rainforest and then enter open forest before emerging at Bellbird Lookout. The excellent view across the Kurraragin Valley include Egg and Turtle Rock and from Ships Stern to Hidden Valley.

 

 

This track on the western side of Binna Burra is named after the Talangai (white) and Kweebani (cooking) caves that are passed along the walk. The track passes through both Eucalyptus and rainforest and apart from its interesting Geology it has some excellent views into the Coomera Valley.

 

 

This walk starts in lush subtropical rainforest and after about 2 km, we enter Temperate Rainforest as the track rises up to Tullawallal. The patch of Antarctic beech on the summit is the northern most location of this species in Australia and is one of our remaining links with the ancient forests of Gondwana. These Forests were once widespread across the continent.

 

 

The Gwongoorool Track descends over 300Mt down to a swimming hole in the Coomera River.

 

 

As we make our way down to the river we pass through Open Eucalyptus forest and past high cliffs of ash before entering groves of Brush Box and Piccabeen palms. Eels have made their home in the water hole and can be aggressive to intruders. On our way back up the graded track there are some 180 steps to negotiate.

 

 

 

Starting our walk in Subtropical rainforest, we make our way out into a dryer open forest before we reach Nixon Creek and Nagarigoon Falls.

 

We soon pass the Ballunjui Cascades and a short side track takes us to Guraigumai Rock, a natural lookout over the valley below. Re-joining the track we reach Booboora Falls and continue downhill crossing Nixon Creek twice before reaching Upper Ballunjui with spectacular views of the valley below. After enjoying the views we return along the same track.
