DAVE’S CREEK CIRCUIT 12 KLMS CLASS 4 TRACK 4-5 HRS

Dave’s creek is known for its wide variety of terrains it passes thru, from tall rainforest to eucalypt forest, and open heath with some scenic lookouts along the way. After following the Border track thru rainforest for 2.3 klm, we turn on to the Dave’s crk circuit and soon enter eucalypt forest. Before long we are brieferly back in rainforest before entering a section of mallee scrub and out into heath.

The Bottle Brush, Casuarina, Banksia, Tea tree, Wattles, Hakeas and wildflowers that make their home on the heath are spectacular in spring flower. We soon reach a lookout with views over the Woggunba Valley and Wedge-tail Eagles can sometimes be seen soaring overhead. We soon reach the Numinbah lookout with views across to Springbrook and the valley below. Winding our way back thru eucalypt forest, we reach Surprise Rock, a Rhyolite Dyke that intrudes above the landscape, with views out across the heath country we passed thru earlier.

We soon pass Neubani Rocks, more volcanic dykes and are soon back at the border track and on our way back to the carpark. We have the option of visiting Nagarigoon Falls on a short side track or the Antarctic Beech trees at Tallawallal on the way back.
